I was going to respond in a bit more depth to Chris's post about tattoos, but instead I'll simply say: go read this. Tattoos of Asian characters are just dumb, unless you speak the language.
A friend of mine from high school had a t-shirt that said "Americans are stupid" in Japanese. She thought this was really funny, but it didn't make much sense to me. Japanese people are still going to laugh at her because of it. At least the t-shirt wasn't permanently etched on her skin.
